“The purpose of business is to create and keep a customer.” – Peter F. Drucker

I’d like to argue (respectfully, of course) that this is an incomplete statement.

The purpose of business is to leave a legacy – for our customers, employees and the community that we live in. Talking about this is one thing (a lot of companies do). Doing it is something different altogether.

I created babygorillas.com to encourage individuals and companies to get better before they get bigger. To make their own rules. To do something that matters. And most importantly, to touch the lives of others.

Babygorillas.org exists for a special reason. The goal: do big things for charity…one small step at a time. Big donors may always get the press, but there are a lot more small donors in the world. This site is for them.

So, what’s the first project?

For starters, I’m going to run a marathon with Team for Kids.

Not just any marathon, mind you…I’m running the 2012 ING New York City Marathon. Money raised goes towards New York Road Runner’s youth services, which provides free fitness programs to underserved schools and community centers.

Interested in donating to the cause? It’s easy…just visit my personal Team for Kids page. Then click the “Donate Now” button to give through my secure fundraising site. All gifts are tax-deductible, and your impact can be doubled if your company has a Matching Gift program.

That’s the focus for now…I’ll be adding new projects in late 2012 and early 2013.
